How itworks.

A night, the points, your rating and the divisions. Everything is public, and everything follows the same simple rules.

The night

Four players.
New partner every round.

A night is a ladder of five courts. You play six to eight short rounds, each one game. Each round, winners climb one court and losers drop one. The first round is set by rating, so the strongest start on Court 1.

The points

The top court
is worth more.

Only points from games you win count. Everything won on Court 1 is worth one and a half times the same on Court 5, and the courts in between step down evenly.

Medals of the nightWin Points= your wins, each × its court

The 60 ÷ games step puts short and long nights on the same scale: ×7.5 for 8 games, ×10 for 6.

Your rating

Your first five nights

Each of your first five nights gives an estimate from the level of your court and the games you won. Your rating is their average. It goes public after night five, marked “settling” until night fifteen while it can still move a lot.

If you win 5 of 8 every night

Near the ceiling growth counts half, and at the ceiling it stops. A higher rating can only be earned in a higher division.

New players start without a division. A Start night places you. Outgrow your ceiling and you move up; during a move you can play both neighbouring divisions.

D3 + D2

Moving up

When you pass the top of your division you hold both for a while and can book nights in either, until the new one is yours.

A division above D1, for when the best amateurs in Lebanon outgrow it.

Fixed pairs

Your pair.
Your pair rating.

On fixed pairs nights you play the whole night with one partner. The pair gets a rating of its own, kept apart from your mixed rating. For its first five nights together, the pair is placed by the average of both players’ mixed ratings.

No partner? Ask one.

Solo players on a fixed pairs night are listed with their rating and playing side. Ask to pair; they confirm or decline. You can cancel a request or leave a pair.

Pay for both, or your share

One of you pays for the pair, or each pays their own share. The pair’s place is held while you pay.
